Finally arrived to Kapsait

Finally arrived to Kapsait

It is 05:30 am, the alarm goes off (an iron bar that passes between the railings of the accommodation). All ready for the morning training 70 min. run (I was forced to follow him for about half an hour to talk to the coach, then I gave up).

After the training, breakfast awaits us, I meet  Robert the Ugandan cook and he shows me the kitchen (I immediately travel with my mind and think at the kitchenette where my grandmother made ricotta). What do these champions eat for breakfast? Well chai-tea and a kenyan croissant, style crep.

Immediately after a nice meeting where the coach illustrates the program and gives a lot of information on logistics, bathrooms, cleaning, schedules etc. During the meeting, the coach introduces me to the athletes and introduces me to my colleague of whom, I'll be the tutor for the tecar treatments with the T-plus.

First treatment, here she comes, silent, shy and petite, but at the same time a force of nature that holds the world record for women's marathon, she is Brigid Kosgei. The day continues with other treatments for other male athletes who on average run with times of 2 hours and 05-08 minutes.

In the middle comes the lunch break and menu was white rice and black beans.

In the afternoon the athletes are ready for the second training session which will last about 1 hour. Here on campus there is some problem with the electricity that comes and goes which also interrupts some treatment.

We arrive at dinner time, for the athletes a typical kenyan dish "Ugali" (corn polenta accompanied by cooked vegetables). For me, however, an alternative dish, as our European stomach would not be able to dispose of that dish without problems (I promised myself that I will taste it a bit before leaving).

Now it's 10pm and the day ends here. Tomorrow in the morning I will take a tour nearby to take photos and videos. While the athletes will start around 05am for 40 km with a difference in altitude of 2000m, they will go down to 1000m and then again to 3000m.
